INTRODUCTION This is the project page for digging in to the summoning ceremony with V. The goal of this project is to find a way to interfere with the ceremony that the faction leaders are using to bring more Otherworlders to Fellden. The end goal is to stop the faction leaders from using the ceremony to continually drain the remaining magic in the world, accelerating its destruction.
The full project timeline, if everyone is proactive, is at least 20-25 weeks, or 4-5 months.
The project will require the following participants:- Researchers β This includes research into magic and also those better skilled at intel gathering. The minimum number of participants required is 3, more are encouraged.
- The Team β The team of mages and fighters who will be risking their safety to interrupt the ceremony at its source. The minimum number of mages required is 3, more are encouraged. The minimum number of fighters is 3, more are encouraged.
- Other Helpers β What is your skill and how can you contribute?

Look to the Updates thread for new information and current plot opportunities.
How did my character hear about this project? Word of mouth, which please feel free to handwave. The topic will likely start with the fact that V is interested in researching the ceremony, and then he would explain his sedition from there, if you were interested. If you want to thread something out, feel free to hit up his inbox. Or someone else's inbox if you want to play out bringing them in on it. Have fun, do you.
ETA V offers tutoring where you may talk to him about this.
STEP 1. RESEARCH Researchers are working on the following goals, both researching the magic of the summoning ceremony and the logistics of its performance. The expected time frame for completing this step is at least 3-4 months. The minimum number of researchers required is 3, but at least 4-5 will better ensure success.
There are two sections of research:- Logistics β Where the ceremony is performed. How many guards/other obstacles that will be in attendance. Each are specific to the Moon Temple and Court of Stars respectively, and must be researched respectively.
- Ceremony β Knowledge about the ceremony itself is shared between efforts. Researching the summoning ceremony requires mage researchers specifically, as the summon spell was created by the faction leaders, nothing else like it exists and will be challenging.
Research gains on the ceremony will function on the timelines for Dedicated Mages and Scholar Mages. To learn more about the mage timelines, see the Magic System.
Providing proofs of interaction with the research is also strongly suggested.
The options for logistics research are:
- The number of soldiers in attendance to the ceremony.
- If it is the faction leader's personal guard or another team of soldiers.
- Where the ceremony takes place.
- How long the ceremony lasts.
- If there is any preparation involved within the Temple/Court.
The options for ceremony research are:
- Speaking to the Jarl in Jarl's Keep in Luxuriae.
- Learning from a specific professor at the University of Terebellum.
- Digging through the University library.
- Asking an Attendant of Death.
- Asking Temperance.
Note: Some of these will result in attention being drawn to the researchers (specifically the Jarl and the Professor), which could impact the results of this effort. Researchers π V π Wei Wuxian π Lan Wangji
| Moon Research Goals | Stars Research Goals |
|---|
| π Where is the ceremony performed? | The summoning ceremony takes place in a chamber far below the Moon Temple, even lower than the Temple crypt, though is directly below the audience hall. | β Where is the ceremony performed? | * | | π How many guards attend? | The entirety of the Priestess' personal guard are in attendance of the ceremony as well as a rotating group of other guards: the number of guards in attendance varies each month depending on the current social climate. There are around 20 guards each time, give or take. | β How many guards attend? | * | | Shared Research Goals |
|---|
| πβ What is the ceremony? | * |
STEP 2. DETERMINE A PLAN Once the research questions above have been answered, the team will need to decide on a course of action. The course of action needs to be generally decided upon by the characters going in to do the job. There can be an IC discussion, but expect to first determine it OOCly upon receipt of research results. To fully vet a plan, train, and gather resources is estimated to take at least 1 month.
The minimum number of mages is 3, at least 4-5 will better ensure success. The minimum number of fighters is 3, a minimum of 5 is required to ensure no casualties. These minimums are required between both the Moon and Stars teams.
To stop the ceremony, a counter-spell is possible. There are two counter spells that can be created:- Can be used from outside the chamber but will take longer to manifest.
- Meant for use inside the chamber to negate the spell.
There are three potential outcomes to interfering with the summoning ceremony:- Negate the summoning ceremony.
- Stop the flow of magic to each faction leader β The magic can either be funneled into another magic user, or it can merely block the magic from being drawn into the chamber.
- Incapacitate the faction leaders so they cannot cast the summoning β This is not a lasting solution.
The following table shows the current expected members of each party.
| Moon Team | Stars Team |
|---|
| π V | Mage/Other (Familiars) | β Dimitri | Fighter | | π * | * | β * | * | | π * | * | β * | * | | π Squall | Fighter | β * | * | | π * | * | β * | * | | π Felix | Fighter | β * | * | | π Wei Wuxian | Mage (Tentatively) | β Coraline | Fighter | | π Lan Wangji | Mage | β * | * | | π * | * | β * | * |
STEP 3. EXECUTE Once teams and plans are assembled, the next summoning ceremony can be honed in on.
Expect a free form log to play out infiltration, but know that results will be pre-determined and based on the plan chosen.

Faction: Moon
What you want to do: Research, he'll go on the infiltration if he has to.
What you're good at: Planning, magic, subtlety, research, scouting. Killing demons.

Faction: Stars
What you want to do: Dimitri will be better suited to fighting-related things, so put him on the team to interrupt the ceremony! He won't be flinging magic around but he hits hard with his lance. :V He can aid the researchers, and is inclined to do his own poking around sometimes, but there are probably better-suited characters to that task than himself.
What you're good at: Going with the flow, but also helping with brainstorming if the group gets stuck on how to proceed. Otherwise, I'm flexible? Tell me where you want me.

Faction: Moon
What you want to do: Team Interruption. He's adept with magic, buuut he's more fighting oriented β especially since he doesn't have a lot of his summons and spells on him right now.
What you're good at: Ideas, brainstorming, prompting. As for Squall, he's the ex commander of an army, so strategy, causing a ruckus, impulse decisions and being on the frontlines is his thing.

What you want to do: he is HERE to INTERRUPT! he lives to fight, so he's pretty darn good at it... let him kick ass, please.
What you're good at: idk, man, i'm honestly here for whatever. if you need me to help out with something, feel free to ask! i like bouncing ideas around. as for flex himself, well: swordsmanship, two (2) whole lightning spells, keeping people on track because he has a surprisingly level head on his shoulders... he's not bad at planning things, when push comes to shove

Faction: Moon
What you want to do: Whatever you need, within reason! Wuxian is pretty entry-level in this world, so I'm not sure how much he could do, but he's interested in how the ceremony works, mostly to see if it can be reversed. He wouldn't mind stopping the ceremony, either, though that might theoretically change depending on what they find out and such. So probably team infiltration and/or interruption... but he might decide not to interrupt l o l... A small chance, but still a chance. Even if that happened, though, he wouldn't sell people out.
What you're good at: Wuxian has some dark-ish magic in his own world, and he's not bad at fighting. He's decent at intel-gathering, too, but there's no way he's throwing himself at a library for it (unless he finds a reason to, himself), so it would be limited to the "hit up a tavern and drink with people" kind of intel gathering. (Are there any drinkers in the Jarl's? Because he would drink them under the table while trying to extract information, and hopefully they wouldn't remember much. XD)
He can also possess a little paperman and spy on people, but it's very high-risk to him, so he would only do it in dire situations. (OOC-ly mods have also declared it would likely be seen by high-level NPCs, so there's that. Β―\_(γ)_/Β― But I'm up for the fall-out, if it comes to that.)

Faction: Moon
What you want to do: Whatever you need. He's really an all-rounder here who can be useful in any capacity, as long as it doesn't require a silver tongue or street smarts. While he can move about silently if need be, stealth is not treated as a strong point but not particularly weak. It might just be harder to sneak about with a large instrument strapped to his back.
I lean him being counted as a mage for higher success at the expense of possible casualties, though he would prefer safety over success. He also doesn't like the idea of killing if it's not completely necessary, and would prefer to defend/incapacitate.
What you're good at: Lan Wangji has great power that can apply for either the role of a mage or a fighter at short and long range. He can pore over texts for research, and his zither can be used to communicate with spirits (though it's been advised that it might attract Death's attention).
But despite him looking serious and disciplined on the surface, several things could make him change his mind as more info arises, so who knows if he might do something weird.

Faction: Stars
What you want to do: Possibly help with infiltration and spying, definitely can aid in fighting.
What you're good at: Her powers make her good at sneaking around, though the way her senses work means she isn't necessarily the best for info gathering during the day. She's also a proficient fighter with superpowers.

Faction: Moon Temple
What you want to do: Research; at this point I want Ashe to still be presenting a front of supporting the Priestess to receive its perks and to avoid punishment, so she definitely wouldn't put herself in a position where she could be easily seen on the front lines of a group hoping to undermine her.
What you're good at: She's risen up to the rank of Dedicated Adept in learning magic so far, is a negotiator, thrives on being in control and coming up with plans. My future goals for her are leaning more towards sneaky backdoor dealings and loads of info brokering, if I can pull it off.
